COVID19 & Remote Participation

At this time, we plan to gather in Chicago for our first in-person annual conference since 2019. Options for remote contributions are described below.

All participants, including, but not limited to, attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, university staff, service providers, and others are expected to abide by University of Chicago's health requirements for campus visitors and our conference code of conduct

1. University of Chicago faculty and employees are required to be fully vaccinated or, for those with verified exceptions, to provide weekly negative tests. At this time, we are not requiring proof of vaccination from attendees/presenters.

2. Covid test results are not required from attendees/presenters who are not University of Chicago faculty or staff.

3. Participants are expected to adopt the risk mitigation measures (masking and social distancing, etc.) appropriate to their vaccination status as advised by public health officials or to their individual vulnerabilities as advised by a medical professional.

We will continue to monitor and update safety precautions for the 8th IC2S2 regularly and coordinate with trusted national resources, state and local public health agencies, and the hotels/venues hosting the event.

Please continue to check the website for event updates and changes.

Options for Remote Contributions

We understand many people who are interested in the conference may not be able to attend due to COVID19 and related travel restrictions. While we plan to hold the conference completely in-person, we are making the following options available for remote contributions:

  • We will stream all keynotes and panel sessions for online viewing (link to be published).

  • If your submission was accepted as a poster, you have the option to submit a pdf of your poster to include in the online program and be published on our website.

  • If your submission was accepted as a paper, you have the option to submit either a short video presentation, or a pdf of a poster, to include in the online program. If you choose to submit a video, we ask that you publish your video on youtube, vimeo or similar platform, and send us a link that we will include in the online program only.

  • We will not be showing any remote or virtual presentations during the conference.

  • If you choose to contribute remotely, we will waive your registration fee. If you have already registered and can’t make it, you may request a return of your registration fee.

If you decide to contribute remotely, please complete these steps by July 1:

  1. Confirm your remote contribution by completing this form. If you have already completed this form and would like to switch to remote, you may edit your previous response, or notify us directly by emailing ic2s2.2022@gmail.com.

  2. Submit your digital posters or videos here for including to the online program.

  3. To request a refund for the registration fee, please contact Heidi Lee at ehlee@uchicago.edu so she can issue a refund via Eventbrite.
